Homes need love too

Homes need love too
As I age, I notice I need to pay more attention to my health, and my 40 year old home needs more love too.
My old home needs preventative maintenance, before something “big” breaks down.
Old houses are like old people in that they both show their age through a distinct character and require constant upkeep. Both are often built with more durable, traditional materials than their modern counterparts, though this can also mean they have outdated systems like old plumbing or wiring, and health concerns like lead paint or asbestos.  More similarities between old houses and old people …
Need for maintenance: Both old people and old houses require ongoing maintenance and care to stay in good shape. An old house will always have something that needs to be fixed or updated, just as an older person may need more attention for regular attention and care.
Health and safety concerns: Just as old people may have age-related health issues, old houses can have outdated or broken systems. Both can have need of replacement parts that are obsolete. This can include things like old wiring, cracked odd-shaped windows, Hvac systems, lead paint, and or asbestos insulation.
